In August of 2018, I was at one of my favorite outdoor shopping centers where they had opened a new SoulCycle studio three months prior. I decided to check it out and I’m glad I did. The employees are full of energy and encourage you to join the SoulCycle community. I was fortunate enough to get one free class to try it out. The class was tough, but so much fun.
I try to make the effort to go as often as I can as I also do my Nike+ Training Club workouts throughout the week. Every time I go to a class, I get recharged and motivated. I highly recommend at least giving SoulCycle a try.
Before the class starts, you can shop their merchandise, rent their cycling shoes for $3, and/or then store your belongings in a locker.
During the class, there is high energy music that allows you to pedal to the beat while the dimmed lighting lets you focus on yourself. The instructor will guide you through upper body movements as they let you pedal at a pace that is best for you – the goal is to try your best to match the beat. Weights/dumbbells are used during the middle portion of the class where you have the option of keeping a slow and steady pedaling pace or you can stop pedaling for that segment. Toward the end, the instructor will let you know when you can leave early if needed. If you decide to stay, there are guided stretches on and off of the bike.
After the class, there are bathrooms to use that provide self-care items to freshen up. Or in some locations, you can use their fully stocked shower rooms. Next to the rooms, there are disposable bags to put your workout gear in. In the shower rooms, there are amenities like soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, shaving cream, disposable razors, and towels. There are also stations that have large mirrors with benches that have hair dryers and cabinets with cotton swabs, paper towels, and other toiletries.
I really enjoy SoulCycle because it’s a community of people with high spirits that are eager to be active and uplift those around them.
Last month, SoulCycle launched their 31-day challenge called The Happiness Challenge. The goal was to promote movement and mindfulness to help build happiness. Although the challenge is over, this motto is still practiced in the SoulCycle community.
If you want to workout in a positive environment, check out SoulCycle!
